ภาษาไทยใช้คำบอกเวลา เช่น เมื่อวาน ตอนนี้ พรุ่งนี้ แต่ภาษาอังกฤษใช้การเปลี่ยนรูปกริยาเข้ามาช่วยบอกเวลาและลักษณะของเหตุการณ์ เช่น I ate yesterday, I am eating now, I will eat this evening

Tense = เวลา + ลักษณะเหตุการณ์ ไม่ใช่แค่แปลว่าอดีต ปัจจุบัน อนาคต

Simple Tense: เรื่องธรรมดา จบเป็นจุด ตารางเวลา

Tense	ใช้เมื่อ	คำใบ้	ตัวอย่าง
Present Simple	นิสัย ความจริง สิ่งถาวร สุภาษิต ตารางเวลา	always, usually, often, every, timetable	The earth moves around the sun.
Past Simple	เกิดและจบแล้วในอดีต หรือเคยทำเป็นประจำในอดีต	yesterday, last..., ago, in 2020	She visited the school last week.
Future Simple	จะทำในอนาคต ตัดสินใจทันที สัญญา คาดการณ์	tomorrow, soon, next..., later	I will call you later.

Continuous Tense: กำลังทำ ณ ช่วงเวลานั้น

Tense	ใช้เมื่อ	ตัวอย่าง
Present Continuous	กำลังทำตอนพูด, เกิดช่วงนี้, แผนอนาคตใกล้	They are watching TV now.
Past Continuous	กำลังทำในอดีต, เป็นฉากหลังแล้วมีอีกเหตุการณ์แทรก	I was reading when she called.
Future Continuous	จะกำลังทำอยู่ ณ เวลาหนึ่งในอนาคต	This time tomorrow, I will be studying.

คำกระตุ้นที่เจอบ่อย: now, right now, at the moment, at present, Look!, Listen!, while, when, this time tomorrow

Perfect Tense: เกิดก่อนอีกเวลา และมีความหมายเชื่อมโยง

Present Perfect	เพิ่งจบ, ยังไม่จบ, ประสบการณ์, ทำมานานถึงปัจจุบัน, ทำซ้ำหลายครั้ง	just, already, yet, ever, never, since, for, so far	I have studied English for five years.
Past Perfect	เกิดก่อนอีกเหตุการณ์หนึ่งในอดีต	before, after, by the time	The class had started before I arrived.
Future Perfect	จะเสร็จก่อนเวลาใดเวลาหนึ่งในอนาคต	by next..., by the time	She will have finished the report by Friday.

Perfect Continuous: ยาวนาน + ต่อเนื่อง + เน้นระยะเวลา

Present Perfect Continuous	has/have been + V-ing	ทำมาตั้งแต่อดีตถึงปัจจุบัน และมีแนวโน้มต่อ	Jim has been waiting for two hours.
Past Perfect Continuous	had been + V-ing	ทำต่อเนื่องมาก่อนอีกเหตุการณ์ในอดีต	She had been working before the power went out.
Future Perfect Continuous	will have been + V-ing	จะทำต่อเนื่องครบระยะเวลาหนึ่งในอนาคต	By May, he will have been teaching for ten years.

Will, Shall, Be Going To ใช้อย่างไร

will + V1	อนาคตทั่วไป คาดการณ์ สัญญา ตัดสินใจตอนพูด	I will help you.
be going to + V1	มีแผนล่วงหน้า หรือมีหลักฐานว่าจะเกิด	It is going to rain.
shall + V1	ใช้กับ I/we ในการชวน เสนอ ขอความเห็น แบบสุภาพ	Shall we leave now?

Stative Verbs: กริยาที่มักไม่ใช้ Continuous

จำง่าย: ถ้ากริยานั้นเป็น “สภาพในใจ/ความรู้/การเป็นเจ้าของ” มากกว่าการกระทำที่เห็นเป็นภาพเคลื่อนไหว มักไม่ใช้ -ing ในข้อสอบพื้นฐาน

หาเวลาใหญ่ก่อน: Present, Past หรือ Future
ดูว่าการกระทำนั้นเป็นจุดเดียว ธรรมดา ต่อเนื่อง เสร็จก่อน หรือยาวนานต่อเนื่อง
วงคำบอกเวลา เช่น yesterday, now, since, for, by the time, tomorrow
เช็กโครงสร้างกริยาให้ตรง: V2, be + V-ing, has/have + V3, will + V1
